Enterprise Architecture - the IT compass for Enterprise Strategy

A sneak peek into how Volkswagen Group uses external best practices to improve the internal Enterprise Architecture function   What is architecture work – and what value does it truly bring to Volkswagen? This is a question frequently raised across both business and IT units. To answer it, we took the opportunity to challenge ourselves, and to redefine the value of Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) across all levels.   What years ago started with an internal Volkswagen perspective, the so-called EA Compass, further evolved by our collaboration with the Cross-Business-Architecture Lab e. V. (CBA Lab). We have expanded our view beyond company boundaries, enriched our approach with cross-industry insights, and ultimately shaped a comprehensive EA Service Catalog. Today, this Service Catalog stands as a central backbone of architecture work at Volkswagen. It is not just a framework — it is a tangible enabler that drives real impact by enabling structured and consistent engagement with our internal customers, supporting the effective steering of IT investments and resources. It provides a solid foundation for measuring success and alingning with strategic goals.   As an additional outcome of this journey Enterprise Architecture Management establishes a common language, creates greater transparency, and provides clearer guidance across architecture-related topics in the Volkswagen Group.   I am especially proud of the contribution of our team, and I would like to extend my special thanks to Patrick Filla, who has represented the Volkswagen Group in the CBA Lab since 2024. This collaboration has been instrumental in continuously improving the quality of architecture work at Volkswagen.   By the way - the corresponding full article is available in automotiveIT: https://lnkd.in/ec-zSSJ6 #EnterpriseArchitecture #DigitalTransformation #ITStrategy #VolkswagenGroup #Innovation #BusinessITAlignment #Transformation #DataDriven #Collaboration #ProudTeam
