What happens when two airport train companies get together for two days in Vienna? A lot of talking about trains, a surprising amount of talking about payments, technology and data. Several discussions about customer experience, partnerships and innovation, and at least one schnitzel!! This week, Flytoget AS, Leo Bull and myself had the pleasure of visiting City Airport Train / City Air Terminal Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (CAT) in Vienna. Over two packed days we exchanged experiences on everything from commercial strategy, sales and distribution to marketing, technology, compliance and future innovations. While our railways run in different countries, many of the challenges, and opportunities, are remarkably similar. The best ideas often emerge when you compare notes with people who face the same questions from a different perspective. A huge thank you to the entire CAT team for your hospitality, openness and willingness to share. We leave Vienna with new insights, fresh inspiration and a few ideas we might just borrow from each other.
