What if a gravel plant could run almost entirely without CO₂ emissions? ⚡️   At our Zurow site in northern Germany, that vision is becoming reality.   By switching to 100% renewable electricity and introducing two fully electric wheel loaders, we have transformed Heidelberg Materials Deutschland’s Zurow sand and gravel operation in Germany:   The electric loaders now handle up to 2,500 tonnes of material per day, delivering performance comparable to conventional diesel machines, while eliminating one of the last major sources of operational emissions.   A 2.6 MWp floating solar plant installed on a former extraction lake will further strengthen the site's renewable energy concept in the future.   A practical example of how renewable energy and electrification can reduce emissions in day-to-day operations!
