Last September I began my student placement at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies. Whilst working within the downstream processing department I worked with industry-standard equipment including various AKTA models, SymphonX™ and a UF/DF rig. I learnt how to perform protein purification, gel preparation and buffer creation to a GMP standard. This year has allowed me to Improve my analytical and teamworking skills greatly. I'd like to thank Jodie Symington, Jonathan Combe and Emily Mulligan who supported me throughout the high throughput refold project. The project entailed preparing various refolding conditions whilst utilising the Tecan 200, lab chip and gel analysis to gauge the success of the lysozyme refold. An additional thank you to everyone else in downstream processing for making my time in the company so enjoyable. I'm very appreciative of the opportunity handed to me and excited to return to the University of Leeds for my final year.
