CEO at Arcadis I Transforming Systems & Businesses that Power Future-Ready Infrastructure, Economies & Communities
The more AI advances, the more convinced I become that human imagination will matter. What strikes me is that while technology is accelerating how we work, the questions becoming most important are deeply human ones. How do we create value in new ways? How do we make better decisions in increasingly complex environments? How do we bring people with us through change? And how do we imagine possibilities that don’t yet exist? Yesterday, Arcadis welcomed clients and partners into The CubeHouse, our new global headquarters in Amsterdam, for the first time. Thank you to everyone who joined us – for your participation in the discussions, your openness to think differently, and continue conversations we started well beyond the day. And a special thank you also to the many Arcadians and partners who helped bring it to life. Through conversations, I heard those very questions – across sectors and organizations – resonate. The challenges ahead are becoming more interconnected. Infrastructure, energy, mobility, digital systems and communities can no longer be viewed in isolation. Creativity. Trust. And imagination. All showed up. And that is what gives me confidence. Creating long-term value will require us to connect disciplines, technologies and perspectives in new ways. One a personal note, I recently moved to Amsterdam, and one of the reasons that mattered to me is a belief that leadership should stay close to the people, projects and communities it serves. Living and working here, not far from CubeHouse, I see every day how this city continues to evolve, and experience this with my family too... It is a constant reminder that our work is not just about infrastructure or assets. It is about helping shape how people live, move, connect and thrive. That feels symbolic of the direction of travel - how we rethink and shape the cities and infrastructure that create and improve quality of life for communities and businesses. As our industry continues to evolve, where do you think human ingenuity will create the greatest value in the years ahead?
