Today on International Nurses Day, we gathered together as an organisation to hear updates from our Chief Executive Giles Nunis. Giles spent time interviewing our NurseWest director, Jonathon V., and a special guest, registered nurse, Sarah-Jane Collier, who took the time to come in and share her experience with HSS. WA Health has a unified Winter Strategy, to ready the health system for the pressures of the winter flu season. HSS plays a role in the Winter Strategy through our supply of temporary nurses, midwives and assistants in nursing for WA Health. We also provide support to growing virtual care via the WA Virtual Emergency Department, and support additional recruitment needs to mitigate winter surges. Giles mentioned the slate of 27 infrastructure projects across WA Health, including the new Women and Babies hospital – all of which HSS will provide services to. We also heard from Kevin Porter, Director Category Management, who shared insights about the scale of our procurement, current and ongoing challenges, as well as how we support the WA government's Made in WA initiative. It was a fantastic hybrid in-person and online session, and great to hear the wide-reaching impact that HSS has across the health system, and the variety of services and roles required to provide this valuable support. #HSSImpact #TheHSSDifference #NurseWest #EveryoneBelongsatHSS #InternationalNursesDay
