The new Aged Care Act marks a significant milestone in aged care reform —bringing stronger rights for older Australians to ensure they are treated with respect and enjoy the quality of life they deserve. The Act puts older Australians at the centre of their care, empowering them to make informed decisions about the type of care they receive, and when, where and how they receive it. Healthdirect is proud to be a key enabler of this transformation through the delivery of the My Aged Care contact centre. As the front door to aged care services, My Aged Care is supporting consumers through these changes and helping them navigate the new Support at Home Packages. Healthdirect worked closely with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to support the operational implementation of the new Act so that the contact centre can assist older Australians, their families, and carers. Our priority is to ensure older Australians feel confident, respected and truly in control—empowered to live with dignity, supported in their decisions, and assured of a quality of life that honours their rights every step of the way.
