A royal moment for youth mental health 👑 Today, headspace South Melbourne had the privilege of hosting King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark. Together with our CEO, Jason Trethowan, we discussed the growing need for mental health and wellbeing support among young people. With 49% of Australians aged 12-25 experiencing high levels of psychological distress, this visit couldn’t be more timely. During their time with us, Their Majesties learned about the work we’re doing to destigmatise help-seeking behaviour as well as our evidence-based initiatives, including the ‘7 tips for a healthy headspace,’ which promote simple ways to improve mental health and wellbeing, like staying active and nurturing relationships. The visit also highlighted the importance of involving young people in key policy decisions, something we proudly shared as part of Australia’s journey to adopt social media restrictions for under-16-year-olds. This royal visit reminds us all: conversations around mental health are for everyone, no matter your age or background. Thank you to Their Majesties for helping shine a light on the importance of youth mental health. 💚 Tamsin Short, Access Health and Community
