INFOBUILD | INFOBUILDENERGIA dedicates an in-depth article to CityWave in Milan, exploring the engineering complexity behind one of the most distinctive elements of the project: the suspended canopy connecting the two main buildings of the new CityLife S.p.A development. The article looks closely at the structural challenges behind this 140-metre free span canopy, built with five crossed layers of X-LAM panels and integrated steel cables. A system that required analytical design, testing and continuous monitoring, in order to bring the architectural vision as close as possible to its final built form. Within this context, HB is mentioned for its role in the structural and geotechnical design of the project, with Marco Righi contributing to the technical narration of a solution that brings together timber, steel, concrete and advanced engineering into a single structural organism.
