Visit to the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization UNIDO in Vienna During his time as Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development (2013–2021), Gerd Müller provided exemplary support to the work of the VDMA, particularly with regard to projects focusing on vocational training in Africa. Reinhold Festge and Dr. Norbert Voelker had established close contact with Gerd Müller during Reinhold Festge’s presidency of the VDMA (2013–2016).    Dr. Reinhold Festge and Dr. Norbert Völker now had the opportunity to visit Gerd Müller in Vienna. This meeting provided an opportunity to reconnect. Gerd Müller currently serves as Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and was recently confirmed in office for another term. His work focuses on combating hunger through the consistent industrialization of less developed countries. Key aspects include technology and knowledge transfer as well as investment partnerships.    During an open and constructive discussion, all participants agreed that vocational education is a crucial prerequisite for achieving these goals. It was agreed to further intensify cooperation in future projects related to vocational training in Africa.
