What will it really take to decarbonize the steel industry? In Episode 9 of Forging the Future, we go beyond the headlines to look at what’s actually required to move from ambition to implementation. Our very own Takshi Sachdeva P. Eng. is joined by Ron Ashburn (AIST - Association for Iron & Steel Technology) and Paul Towsey to unpack the latest thinking from AIST’s roadmap for iron and steel manufacturing and what it means for the future of green steel. A few takeaways that stood out:   - There is no single pathway to net zero, multiple technologies must progress in parallel  - Near-term wins exist, from scrap optimization to electrification of existing processes  - Breakthroughs like electric smelting furnaces could fundamentally reshape production  - The biggest barriers aren’t just technical, they’re economic, policy, and infrastructure-related  - Collaboration across the full value chain is essential to move forward at scale Bottom line: the transition is underway and irreversible, but success depends on how well we align technology, policy, energy, and investment. 🎧 Listen in and share your thoughts in the comments: https://lnkd.in/dg-Rc4g5 #GreenSteel #Decarbonization #SteelIndustry #Sustainability #Mining #EnergyTransition #Innovation
