Article on World-Architects about the Ilse Wallentin House at BOKU in Vienna’s Döbling district The library and seminar center, constructed using modern timber-frame techniques, offers bright and open learning spaces covering approximately 3,000 m² that provide a highly comfortable environment. The exposed structural framework, made of cross-laminated timber and glued laminated timber, deliberately defines the building’s architectural character. Thanks to precise prefabrication, the building was completed in just 14 months. The HASSLACHER group supplied approximately 380 m³ of glulam in visible-grade quality, produced at the Hermagor site (HASSLACHER Holzbausysteme GmbH), including pre-assembled and surface-finished components with UV protection. This protects the spruce wood from yellowing and preserves its typical light color in the long term. Awarded “klimaaktiv Gold,” the project combines functionality, sustainability, and architectural quality.
