Big news! Harvard Eye's very own Savak Teymoorian, MD, MBA has been published in Ophthalmology and Therapy, a peer reviewed Springer Nature journal. Dr. Teymoorian is a co-author on a comprehensive review covering postoperative inflammation and pain management with the intracanalicular dexamethasone insert (DEXTENZA by Ocular Therapeutix, Inc.) and its real world applications across cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, corneal transplantation, refractive surgery, and allergic conjunctivitis. This review synthesizes data from multiple phase 2 and 3 clinical trials alongside investigator initiated studies, highlighting how sustained release, preservative free corticosteroid delivery can overcome the well documented limitations of traditional topical eye drop regimens, including patient nonadherence, improper instillation technique, and preservative related ocular surface complications.
