As part of my independent research and documentary project, I recently visited Sausar, Madhya Pradesh, to gain a deeper understanding of the handloom weaving community. I had the opportunity to interact with artisans who weave beautiful Chanderi, Maheshwari, and other traditional sarees, learning not only about their craft but also about the challenges they face today. Through conversations with weavers, I explored how modernization, changing market dynamics, and evolving technology are reshaping this centuries-old tradition. One of the most striking observations was the gradual decline in the number of weaving families as younger generations move away from the profession. This journey is more than documentation it’s an effort to preserve stories, understand realities, and highlight the people behind India’s textile heritage. I’m currently working on a research paper and a documentary that captures these voices and experiences. Stay tuned I’m excited to share this journey with you soon. #Handloom #Textiles #Research #Documentary #Chanderi #Maheshwari #IndianCrafts #Sustainability #Artisans #Heritage #NIFT #TextileInnovation
