Theology and Religion Student at Durham University
3 years on from joining Durham University and I am pleased to say I have graduated with a 2:1 in Theology and Religion! The most enjoyable part of my study was completing my dissertation: "Masculinity as Religious Identity: Understanding Misogyny, Homophobia and Eating Disorders." However my learning at university has not been limited to my academic studies. Working with The OddBalls Foundation as a university ambassador this year has been an incredible experience, delivering talks in local schools and organisations about testicular cancer. I owe an incredible amount to Simon Culley, STEVEN COLWELL and Durham University Rugby Football Club for the opportunity to not only play at an elite level, but also for the support both on and off the field in completing my degree alongside rugby. It was a privilege to captain the Palatinate XV, represent the 2nd XV, be 1st XV Match-day Manager, Alumni Secretary, to have built the website and to have played a key role in our 150th anniversary match against The Barbarians. I also spent an incredibly enjoyable season coaching the university women's 1st and 2nd XV's. I was honoured to then take up the role of Team Durham Vice President for Events and Engagement in my third year. Finally, I faced a completely new challenge when I took part in Durham Does Strictly Come Dancing, learning and performing a dance and coming 3rd in the competition! Overall, I can say I am incredibly proud of my time at university, maximising my time in the classroom and outside it. I have met so many incredible people across Durham and the local community that have made the 3 years an amazing experience.
