Education is one of the most important pillars that can change someone's life.   For Omar, that belief was forged the hard way. Arriving from Syria, he was told his qualifications didn't count in Australia. But he didn't let that stop him. He requalified. He rebuilt. He kept going. His journey with us began while serving on the board of the Bennelong Foundation, assessing funding grants for organisations like ours. After wrapping up his time there, he felt compelled to move from the funding side to become a Board Director at HBE — drawn by a strong alignment with our purpose and a desire to help the next generation of young migrants navigate the same system he once had to fight through. Today, he brings that same determination to our board, opening doors so no young person has to break them down alone. We're deeply proud to have him on this journey with us. ❤️
