The industry conversation is evolving. For years, offshore helicopter safety discussions have focused on compliance. But compliance was never meant to be the finish line. Recently, representatives from SAFE Fagforbund participated in testing and training activities around Category A compressed-air emergency breathing systems (CA-EBS), highlighting the importance of realistic training, preparedness, and understanding how these systems perform in practice. The discussion reinforces an important point: CAP 1145 established a minimum requirement. It did not define the maximum level of protection that can be achieved. In emergency situations, every second counts. And when disorientation, stress, cold water, or unexpected delays enter the equation, the margin beyond the minimum becomes increasingly important. At Hansen Protection, this belief has guided our engineering approach from the beginning. Because when it comes to survival equipment, meeting the standard matters. Understanding the margin can matter even more.
