An Indian rescuer capturing a 4-5 m king cobra with minimal gear 🐍 Snakes are thigmotactic; they feel secure in tight, dark, enclosed spaces away from predators. When a snake is trapped in a narrow concrete gully with humans around, the opening of a pipe is a sign of relief. As it enters the pipe, it shifts from panic mode to calm, sensing it has found a safe, dark refuge. The dark, enclosed space inside induces a calming response away from chaos outside. This is shelter-seeking behaviour. The pipe & bag method is considered one of the safest snake-rescue techniques, for both snake and rescuer. The snake is not forced into the pipe; it is simply shown the exit it is already looking for. From https://lnkd.in/dn8q3bNP
