Visual Artist | Monumental Drawing, Symbolic Figurative Art | Seeking Gallery Representation & Commissions
The Architecture of Memory: Looking Back at 2021 When I look at this video, it feels like looking into another lifetime. This is 2021 in Kyiv. Back then, creating this large-scale canvas, I still had no idea what a real war was. For me, painting has never been about mere description; it is a ritual of witnessing, an existential diary where I process emotions that cannot be put into words. In the fluid lines and psychological abstraction of these figures, I was exploring human resilience, transformation, and memory — themes that would soon take on a completely different, literal, and heartbreaking meaning. Working on a monumental scale of 140 × 120 cm always gives me a unique artistic drive. It allows me to be completely honest, vulnerable, and strong at the same time, submerging the viewer into the raw texture of the oil and the tension of the forms. This piece is a snapshot of a peaceful past, a testament to a time when art was a safe space for abstract inner reflection. Artwork Details: Title/Theme: Symbolic Figuration / Neo-Expressionism Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 140 × 120 cm Year & Location: Kyiv, Ukraine, 2021 Artist: Hanna Milevska (M.ANNA) Today, as my creative journey continues to evolve between Valencia, Kyiv, and Paris, this canvas remains a vital anchor in my artistic practice. It is a powerful reminder of where this visual language began before it had to bear witness to tragedy. How does the scale and plasticity of these forms resonate with you? I invite collectors, curators, and colleagues to share their thoughts in the comments.
