Excited to share that our latest paper has been published in Environmental Science & Technology! Assessing the Impacts of International Trade on National Steel Recycling from a Consumption Perspective Using a Multiregional Material Flow Model In this work, we introduce a consumption-based recycled content (CB-RC) metric to reveal how international trade reshapes national steel recycling. Our results show that trade drives a global convergence in recycled content despite large disparities in production-based recycling rates, highlighting the importance of considering trade when evaluating circularity and designing recycling policies.
