Now for the rest of the story. In our last post, we mentioned that Tech 1 (69-1) was not actually the first ambulance that Mr. Hall purchased for his new business. The story goes that he bought a 1971 Ford Galaxie 500 from Haberfelde Ford and was having the ambulance conversion completed at Gene’s Automotive Repair. In the meantime, he saw Tech 1, a 1970 Miller Meteor Cadillac on display at a convention and ended up buying this ‘ready to roll’ ambulance. When Hall Ambulance opened on February 10, 1971, the Ford was still in the conversion process, so the Cadillac was given the 69-1, first ambulance distinction. 69-2 served as the second car out until he purchased additional Cadillac professional cars, at which time the station wagon was provided to the Buttonwillow Volunteer Ambulance Service. #EMSHistory #CareCompassionCommunity #HallAmb50th #MillerMeteor #ProfessionalCars #ambulance #Ford #Cadillac
