🎉 I'm pleased to share that our latest research has been published in Sustainability (MDPI), as part of the Special Issue Sustainable Materials, Waste Management, and Recycling. "Sustainable Stabilization of Kaolin Clay Using Lime and Ignimbritic Volcanic Tuff Waste: Mechanical and Microstructural Performance" Authored by Burak Dereli, Halil İbrahim Günaydın, and Ömür Çimen. This study explores how ignimbritic volcanic tuff waste (VTW), an abundant by-product, can be combined with lime to improve the engineering performance of kaolin clay. Our mechanical and microstructural analyses show that VTW reduces plasticity and enhances compaction, while lime and curing drive strength development through pozzolanic reactions. The work highlights a practical pathway toward circular-economy implementation in geotechnical engineering, turning industrial waste into a value-added stabilizing material — offering both environmental and engineering benefits. I sincerely thank my co-authors for their valuable contributions throughout this work. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/diDKEjPc #GeotechnicalEngineering #SoilStabilization #SustainableMaterials #CircularEconomy #WasteValorization #CivilEngineering #Geotechnics
