Earlier this month HAEDES participated in the BUFFER+ partner meeting in Quimper, France. Beyond continuing our collaboration on peatland protection, restoration, and growth, this partner meeting provided valuable insights for the further development of our digital twin, miraX. For those working in the field, the importance of peatlands is clear: they store carbon, support biodiversity, improve water management, and help mitigate both droughts and flooding. Yet communicating that importance to a wider audience remains a challenge. A memorable highlight came from the chef, who surprised Duc Anh NGUYEN and Herma E. with a unique peat-inspired dessert—a creative and unexpected nod to the very ecosystems we are working to protect.
