🔬 Meet Stanford University's Team Omnyra: Varsha Saravanan and Emilin Mathew. With backgrounds in computer science, AI, and product development, they joined #H4D to tackle one of the most forward-looking national security challenges: synthetic biology misuse. Instead of selecting a sponsor-defined problem, Team Omnyra pitched their own—and won the support of the FBI’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate. Over 150 stakeholder interviews, they uncovered a massive gap: existing DNA screening tools can't reliably detect cleverly altered synthetic sequences, and reporting flagged threats within the FBI was fragmented and slow. Their solution?
