Property insurance is an essential protection for homeowners. But rising premiums are adding pressure to the cost of homeownership. New research from Urban Institute finds insurance premiums are becoming increasingly unaffordable. The share of new mortgages where insurance premiums exceeded affordable levels increased from 10.5% in 2018 to 16.2% in 2024.    This troubling trend adds to the reasons why Habitat for Humanity is focused on solutions that keep homeownership within reach and help families sustain their homes over time. Read more on the findings here: https://lnkd.in/e9GwgqbV
