In a study that compared over 2,000 Habitat for Humanity homeowners with over one million similar households, the results were clear: Habitat homeownership leads to increased wealth, security, stability and satisfaction. Key findings from the research, conducted in partnership with Washington University in St. Louis, include experiencing these benefits, on average, versus comparable neighbors: 💰 Approximately $1,800 more in liquid assets 📈 +22 credit score points gained 🏡 56% less-likely to lose their home to foreclosure Ultimately, the report finds that the Habitat model does not eliminate financial stress, but manages risk, reshapes financial trajectories over time, and — when fully resourced — opens the door for homeowners to build lasting security for themselves and their children.
