𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗞𝗔𝗭𝗔𝗞𝗛𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡’𝗦 𝗔𝗜 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗨𝗣 𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗜𝗣 AI is transforming the way we innovate, create and do business. For startups, the opportunity is enormous, but turning ideas into impact requires more than technology. It also requires the right intellectual property strategy. Today we launched the project on Empowering AI Startups in Kazakhstan through Intellectual Property and Innovation Support. A pleasure to mark this important milestone together with Ms. Botagoz Zhaxelekova, Vice-Minister of Justice, Ms. Dinara Chsheglova, Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Eucation, our colleague Ms. Dr. Ulrike Till, Director, IP and Frontier Technologies Division and Kazakhstan’s dynamic community of innovators, universities, startups and innovation hubs. This important initiative follows the discussions and agreement at the highest level between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO Director General Daren Tang during the Director General’s official visit to Astana in 2025. Kazakhstan has been taking important steps to advance its AI and innovation agenda, including through the national Concept for the Development of Artificial Intelligence for 2024-2029. Its startup ecosystem is also gaining momentum, with more than 100 AI startups and growing venture investment in AI projects. Through this project, WIPO will work with national partners to better understand Kazakhstan’s AI startup landscape, identify opportunities and challenges in the use of IP, and provide practical support to promising startups through awareness-raising, capacity-building and WIPO’s IP AI Accelerator programme. The goal is simple: to help startups move from ideas to assets, from assets to investment, and from investment to market impact.
