The Academic Centers cordially invite you to a book talk with Dr. Ilyas Ahmad Chattha, author of ππ’ππ’π³ππ§π¬ ππ¨ ππ«ππ’ππ¨π«π¬: πππ§π ππ₯π’ ππ§πππ«π§π¦ππ§π π’π§ πππ€π’π¬πππ§, ππππβππππ. The session will take place on Thursday, 16th April, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Soorty Lecture Hall at Habib University. The Bangladesh Liberation War is often studied for the immense human suffering in East Pakistan, yet less examined is the mass internment of thousands of Bengalis in West Pakistan following the stateβs disintegration. This book talk explains: through what processes were Bengali civil servants, military personnel, and civilians recast from citizens into internal ghaddar (traitors), and how did their encampment reshape notions of loyalty, citizenship, and belonging? What human and ethical dilemmas arise when a state targets its own citizens during wartime? What broader lessons about identity, legitimacy, and the boundaries of belonging can be drawn from the strategic use of extrajudicial measures such as internment as a political and military instrument? This is a public event. All are welcome to attend. Register here: http://bit.ly/41DqKf1 #BookTalk #AcademicEvents #History #SouthAsia #PakistanStudies #Citizenship #HabibUniversity #ShapingFutures
