Pit’s journey didn’t start with a business plan, but with a recurring frustration. We recently welcomed Pit Yannick to an interview for our HYDROVERSE Success Story series. As Co-founder and CEO of Direct Matter he shared the start-up's journey. During his studies and PhD, he worked for two very different companies, both innovative in their own way, but slowed down by complex decision-making. That was the moment Pit knew he wanted to take more responsibility and move things forward by himself. Meeting his co-founder Swen was the start of that journey. As Hydrogenea they started out producing customized MEA for PEM-electrolyzers. Now they have expanded their technology for AEM and CCS and consequently rebranded as Direct Matter. Direct Matter is a great example – for start-ups with founders fresh out of uni and for showing how you sometimes must rethink your original idea to be successful on the market.
