When millions of cubic metres of water need to be pumped across large distances, energy consumption and operating costs increase dramatically. Often without knowing exactly how much water actually reaches its destination. This is precisely what an innovative project in Italy is addressing. The project is modernising an existing canal network with automated sluice gates. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฝ: for the first time, flow measurement technology is being installed directly at the gates. This sensor technology enables accurate flow monitoring at critical control points throughout the network โ multi-path, continuous, and without taking the canals out of operation. For the first time, operators can see in real time exactly how much water is passing through each gate. This creates the foundation for true network control based on measured data rather than assumptions. Improved transparency and traceability of delivered water volumes GWF has developed solutions to overcome these challenges. Modern irrigation infrastructure does not need larger canals. It needs transparency, high-quality data, and intelligent automation. Contact: Simon Giutronich, MBA #Irrigation #WaterManagement #GWF #FlowMeasurement #CanalMonitoring #EnergyEfficiency #WaterTechnology
