Record Producer, Artist, Immersive Audio Engineer, dIRE sTRAITS keyboard player and CMO at Airsound Ltd.

An odd truth about modern music: some of the most detailed recordings ever made are heard by almost no one as they were meant to be heard. Immersive audio asks the living room to behave like a control room – geometry, calibration, speakers overhead. Most people, quite reasonably, would rather it didn't. So, the experience arrives filtered through soundbars and headphones, gesturing at dimensionality rather than delivering the artists’ intention. That gap has bothered me ever since I started mixing in Atmos. I’ve written about why, and what we’re developing at Airsound to close it.
