Slightly disappointed with “Die Walküre” at the Bayerische Staatsoper tonight after the rave reviews. Casting rather uneven with a shrill Sieglinde and a Brünnhilde with no middle register. The conductor did not spend a lot of time with the singers and concentrated mainly on the orchestra. Very little drive and far too loud. Nicholas Brownlee as Wotan carried the performance. A towering presence and ditto voice; sensationally good.
