Very happy and proud to share that today I had the opportunity to present my first scientific research paper at LOGMS2026, titled "Digitalisation of Onshore Power Supply: A Data-Driven Management Tool for the Port of Barcelona", following its recent acceptance and publication! 🚀🚢 This paper is the culmination of the work developed during my time at the Port de Barcelona and my engineering studies at Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria Industrial de Barcelona (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya ). In it, we tackle one of the major challenges of maritime decarbonisation: the economic viability of Onshore Power Supply (OPS) systems. By developing a custom, Python-based Information Management System (IMS), we managed to bridge the gap between high-voltage electrical infrastructure, the volatility of the wholesale electricity market (OMIE), and the complexity of the Spanish 6.1TD access tariff. The goal was clear: to demonstrate that port electrification is not just an environmental necessity to achieve zero emissions during hotelling, but that with the right data-driven tools, it can also be a competitive and economically sustainable service. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my co-authors and mentors for their guidance and trust throughout this entire process: To Ana Arévalo Gandal and the entire Energy Transition and Shore Power team at the Port of Barcelona, for letting me be part of such a transformative project as the Nexigen Plan. To Jesús Viscarri Colomer and Sara Hatami, Ph.D., for their great academic support and research drive from UPC.
