We’re celebrating a huge milestone in our campaigning work - the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Act has now passed into law. What impact does this have on people with sight loss? 1. Local leaders will now have greater powers to tackle pavement parking, a daily barrier for people with sight loss. 2. Taxi and minicab drivers will need to undergo mandatory disability equality training, which covers supporting people with assistance dogs. 3. Licensing requirements for rental e-bike and e-scooter schemes will be strengthened, putting focus on the needs of local communities. Today’s update marks real progress towards safer, more accessible streets and transport. Thank you again to everyone who has campaigned for action over the years - change is just around the corner.
