“They ask for so little and give so much” Celebrating guide dog Sammy 2012 - 2026. The story of BBC correspondent and guide dog owner Sean D. and his guide dog Sammy's final walk before retirement in 2022 led to a record surge in volunteers for Guide Dogs, with more than 4,500 people coming forward after BBC coverage. Sammy would have been 14 in August. After retiring in 2022, he spent nearly four years enjoying a wonderful retirement, often visiting Cornwall for beach walks and adventures.
