Complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs) – often caused by drug resistant bugs – affect millions and too often mean hospital stays because oral treatment options are limited. We’re focused on raising awareness and developing better treatments to improve patients’ lives and ease pressure on healthcare systems. cUTIs have an increased risk of serious complications and often involve drug-resistant bacteria, affecting an estimated 2.9 million people in the US each year. Current treatments for cUTIs caused by drug-resistant organisms often require hospitalisation. The lack of oral treatments can result in extended hospital stays – ultimately having a negative impact on the quality of life of patients and high costs on healthcare systems.
