A decade. That’s how long it had been since Groupon grew billings and revenue in the same year. In 2025, that changed. Our CMO Josef Buryan sat down with Think with Google to break down how we got here, and it wasn’t a single big bet. It was discipline. We did fewer things better, recommitting to what we do best: connecting people to great local experiences. We treated AI as a multiplier, not a mandate. Instead of forcing adoption, we showed our teams what they could build themselves. One AI agent caught a revenue-losing data discrepancy that had slipped past standard reporting: a second pair of eyes that never gets tired. We gave people room to fail. Anyone at Groupon can pitch an idea, and we built a real pipeline to turn those ideas into live pilots. As Josef puts it: “If you want people to grow, you need to give them space to fail.” We went early on the tech. As beta adopters of Google AI Max, we now capture millions of hyper-local searches that manual keywords would have missed, so the person searching for one specific stylist in their neighborhood actually finds them. The result: from stabilization to growth, and a marketing org built to move at the speed of the market.
