A new initiative is helping 100 Balinese women weavers and weaving business owners strengthen their livelihoods while keeping the traditional crafts of Endek and Songket alive, through digital skills training delivered in partnership with Griffith University. Designed around priorities identified by women‑led weaving businesses, the program focused on digital marketing, social media storytelling and emerging technologies, helping artisans reach new audiences and markets. How do we make sure traditions like Endek and Songket continue to be valued and viable for the women who carry them forward? By building digital confidence and working alongside local weavers, this initiative supports sustainable businesses, stronger communities and the passing on of cultural knowledge to the next generation.
