Karl Pearson did some of the fundamental work on correlation in Victorian times (as well as the Method of Moments!). If you have ever been interested in how to correlate - find the distance to your GPS satellite - these are key mathematical elements for implementing GPS as we have it today. Of course, Mr. Pearson could not have imagined how a correlator would be used decades later - And he might just have influenced Pocklington and Harrington by measuring crabs. Enjoy!!!
