Just a few really impressive and rare portrait plaques by the great American artist Victor David Brenner from a collection that will be coming up for sale in the coming months, starting with the Global Showcase Auction. Victor David Brenner is most notable among numismatists as the designer of the Lincoln Cent starting in 1909. His initials VDB placed on the lower reverse created quite the controversy and were removed shortly after production began, creating the key 1909-S VDB cent, a coin that even non-collectors have heard of. However his work in medallic art is vast in scope, with many subjects, sizes, and styles represented during his long and productive career.
