Activists just crashed the first-ever Dutch shareholder meeting of JBS, the biggest meat company in the world. The message to JBS was clear: Keep your bloody business out of Africa! JBS is the new Shell. And now, just like Shell, they are hiding behind Dutch headquarters. But if you play on Dutch soil, you play by Dutch rules. Today, Greenpeace Netherlands took the first step toward legal action, giving the JBS Board of Directors three weeks to release hidden details of their plans to expand their destructive meat empire into Nigeria. Despite calls for transparency from Nigerian civil society, the environmental and social costs of JBS' plans are being kept hidden from the public! But, we know their history. The growth of JBS’s meat empire went hand in hand with the Amazon destruction, admitted corruption, human rights scandals and enormous climate emissions. We cannot let them continue to operate behind a veil of secrecy. The countdown starts now. See comments for how you can read more and take action. #StopBigAg
