We recently celebrated πŸŽ‰ Biomedical Science Day πŸŽ‰, recognising the vital work of Biomedical Scientists at GOSH and their expertise, dedication, and commitment to delivering outstanding care. Meet Fabia Miozao, Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Haematology, who shared a glimpse into her day. Behind the scenes in Blood Transfusion, Fabia ensured analysers were running safely, urgent blood requests were met without delay, and samples from across the hospital were processed with precision. Her work supported children undergoing major surgery, cancer treatment, stem cell transplants, and more. β€œAlthough I rarely meet patients, I never forget that every sample represents a child and a family waiting for answers.” From issuing life-saving blood products to collaborating with clinical teams and training future scientists, Fabia’s role highlighted the impact of laboratory science on patient care. With up to 80% of clinical decisions influenced by lab results, biomedical scientists remain central to safe, effective treatment. πŸ‘ Thank you to all our Biomedical Scientists for everything you do here at GOSH! πŸ‘ #BiomedicalScienceDay2026
