Summer is here and the perfect accompaniment is the third in the Murder Under The Sun series: ‘Rivals in Rome’ by Anders and Anette de la Motte - for which I’ve provided the cover illustration! In this third part, a Swedish film director and his stars have traveled to Rome for inspiration for a new film about the life of Queen Christina. But the intrigues and rivalries in the group come to a head when a body is discovered in one of Rome’s grandest palazzos - and once again tour guide Lara Belmonte and history teacher Hugo Lind have to step in to untangle the mystery. It’s always a pleasure to paint these sunny Italian scenes, with a tiny hint of menace lurking in the background… My illustration is hand-painted in acrylic on board.
