What an end to the week the IS Operations team at Spirit Energy have had, arriving at work on Thursday to "Network" issue that soon turned out to be a fire in our 3rd party operated data centre in The Netherlands. Through some fantastic collaboration team members from both NL and UK brought network services online following by failing over data and applications to the partner data centre in the UK soon after. The failover was not without it's challenges but through some creative thinking and support from our technical partners we have gone into the weekend with workarounds in place supporting our users' needs. Thankfully there were no injuries at the data centre and the incident was brought under control by the fire brigade early this morning, we now await the restoration of services and see what next week brings us.
