13.5 Miles.πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Over 34,000 steps. 🀯 1 charity. πŸ’› 2 friends. πŸ‘« 1 very tired woman (me πŸ’€). On Sunday 28 June, I teamed up with two of my friends, Jay and Nora, to do the Eye to Eye walk with Moorfields Eye Charity. I had just gotten off a delayed flight the night before (after my week holiday in Ireland), so I was running on very little sleep - but I was not going to back down despite the exhaustion. We walked a half-marathon to collectively raise money for Moorfields, who do incredible work to make a difference to the lives of people experiencing sight loss. Moorfields funds life-changing eye research to deepen our understanding of eye disease and help bring new treatments to patients faster than ever before. It's why they invest in innovative education programmes to help train the next generation of eye specialists. For those that may not know, Retinitis Pigmentosa is the deterioration of the photo (light) receptors in your eyes, meaning that below certain levels of light, you are blind. It's also a degenerative disease where you can eventually go completely blind, and there is no cure yet. I first found out about Retinitis Pigmentosa through Jay; we've been friends for 8 years now, and I did this walk to raise money to help more people like him. Since being his friend, I have found out more about what it's like to live with eye conditions like RP, and all the work people do to help those with it. The work Moorfields do is something very close to our hearts, and any way that we can raise money to help fund their research is so important. My fundraiser is still open to donate to if you are able to give any spare change, we'd be very grateful (no pressure though, of course!) https://lnkd.in/e4_6XVzs Moorfields Eye Charity Moorfields Eye Hospital, London #charity #halfmarathon #fundraiser #RetinitisPigmentosa #vlog #contentcreator #moorfields
