A GLD lawyer has become the first government lawyer to serve as President of Leeds Law Society. Luke Corcoran, from GLD’s Leeds office, recently completed his term as President of Leeds Law Society — representing more than 1,000 legal professionals across the city. Before becoming President, Luke served as a Director of the Society for seven years. During his term, he chaired the Society, supported legal technology and networking events, and championed inclusion and accessibility in the profession. He also served as Head Judge at the Yorkshire Legal Awards and used his platform to encourage people from non-traditional backgrounds to consider a career in law. Colleagues from GLD’s Leeds office joined Luke at the Leeds Law Society Annual Legal Dinner, which raised more than £4,000 for Martin House Children’s Hospice. Luke said: “It was extra special to celebrate with so many GLD colleagues. I was thrilled that we were able to raise over £4,000 for Martin House Children’s Hospice, my Presidential charity of the year.” Congratulations Luke — a brilliant example of GLD colleagues contributing to the legal profession across the UK.
