We’re hiring 8 Senior Lawyers to work on some of the biggest legal issues in transport. Our Department for Transport Legal Advisers work on issues that shape the future of transport — from rail reform and major infrastructure to road safety, decarbonisation, emerging technology, legislation and public law. For Lucy Keevil, who moved to GLD from private practice in 2018, working in transport law has meant variety, challenge and real-world impact. She says: “One of my favourite things about working for GLD is the huge variety of work and the opportunity to work on issues with real world impacts.” Lucy now works as a senior lawyer on rail transformation, navigating complex legal and commercial issues to deliver practical, real-world solutions. She adds: “What really sets this role apart is the supportive and inclusive culture. As a new mum working part time, I’ve been able to lead on key aspects of the reform programme, including sections of the Railways Bill, all while balancing life with a toddler. “If you’re looking for an intellectually stimulating, meaningful role in a supportive team, I’d really encourage you to apply.” Applications close at 12:00 midday on Monday 13 July 2026.
