Early screening enables timely diagnosis and treatment, transforming outcomes for children and their families. Conditions such as Phenylketonuria, Congenital Hypothyroidism, Cystic Fibrosis, Severe Combined Immunodeficiency and Spinal Muscular Atrophy can be identified before symptoms appear, helping prevent severe complications and, in many cases, saving lives. Today also honors Dr. Robert Guthrie, whose groundbreaking PKU screening test in the 1960s revolutionized newborn screening worldwide.
