“Megageile Branche mit viel Zukunft” 🚀 — this was how Richard Clemens, Managing Director of the VDMA Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, summed up the industry during the Management Meeting last Thursday. And at Fispal Tecnologia in São Paulo, that optimism was palpable. 🇧🇷 Together with Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH, I had the opportunity to meet representatives of Hessian and other German companies exhibiting at Latin America's leading food and beverage technology fair. A few key takeaways from many inspiring conversations: 🔹 Brazil is a strategic growth market for processing and packaging technologies — driven by its strong agribusiness sector, food production and growing demand for innovative solutions. 🔹 Many companies are deepening their local presence. What often starts with distributors evolves into direct operations, local service structures and, in some cases, local manufacturing. 🔹 Financing solutions are becoming increasingly important to enable customers to invest in modern technologies. 💡 🔹 Ex-Tarifário continues to play a significant role in facilitating access to advanced technologies and supporting investment decisions. 🔹 Brazil remains one of the few major markets where consumption of meat and cheese is still growing — creating opportunities across the entire value chain. 🥩🧀 At the same time, bakery is currently one of the fastest-growing segments, opening up further opportunities for technology providers. 🥖 One recurring theme throughout many conversations was scale and collaboration: How can medium-sized companies remain competitive in an increasingly complex and regulated global market? 🌎 As Richard Clemens emphasized: industry associations such as VDMA provide an important framework — supporting companies in finding partners, building alliances and developing new business models. 🤝 Looking ahead, the EU-Mercosur Agreement could further strengthen the long-term perspectives for German and European technology suppliers in Brazil by improving market access and creating new opportunities for cooperation. 🇪🇺🇧🇷 Many thanks to all companies who shared their insights and perspectives.
