This afternoon the Malmö Hub met with Fredrik Björk, lecturer, Environmental Scientist, and Social Innovator driven by manifesting sustainable change “on the ground”. We realised early on our shared passions global sustainability and equally shared frustration for incremental change. Impact needs to occur locally, and driven by the potential of youth empowerment and through fostering of young leadership. The conversation brought us through topics of social fabric and trust, and the values in harnessing our social capital. The dialogue shed light on the need for modernising leadership towards more empathic, more system-aware modes of thinking (mirroring the Responsible Leadership Programme many of the Malmö are currently enrolled in). Needless to say that Fredrik’s insights as a historian were fascinating to learn from, explaining how models of social entrepreneurship differ from city to city in Sweden, with Malmö unique in its foundation in the culture and arts disciplines.
